Importing brushes into Procreate is very simple. All it takes are two steps and a few seconds. Here’s a step-by-step on how to import Procreate brushes:
1. Navigate to your downloaded file and open the file
Once you downloaded the brushes, your iPad often saves it in your Downloads.
- Open your Files app
- Go to downloads
Make sure your downloaded file is on your iPad. If you downloaded a brush (pack) on your computer you must send it to your iPad. You can simply e-mail it to yourself and save it to your device.
2. Open the brush file
Look in between your downloads for your brush file and tap it to open
3. Tap the export icon
Next, you’re going to tap on the export icon on the right side of the screen. Click on the procreate app. That’s it!
- Tap the export button
- Look for the procreate app and tap it
The brushes will now be imported into Procreate. They will appear at the top of your brush library.
That’s it! You just imported brushes into Procreate.
How do I import my own brushes in Procreate
If you make a brush in Procreate it automatically saves it into your brush library. But when you created a brush pack that you currently do not have in your brush library here’s what to do:
- Save the Procreate brushes to your iPad. They will most likely be saved in the Downloads folder in your Files app
- Go to your downloads and locate the downloaded brushes
- Open the file by tapping on it
- Tap the outgoing icon
- Tap the Procreate app

How to download brushes for procreate from Gumroad?
Since Gumroad is my go to website to shop for (free) Procreate brushes I’ll tell you how to correctly download a brush (pack) from it.
- Go to Gumroad and search for ”Procreate brushes”
- If you click the link it directly goes to ”Procreate brushes” on Gumroad
- Browse for any brush pack that you like
- Click ”Add to Cart” to buy
- Sometimes you can decide how much you want to pay, even 0 dollars
- Fill in your information
- Download

How to export Procreate brushes
To export a Procreate brush simply select the brush and swipe to the left. Now tap Share to export. To export a Procreate brush pack simply select the brush pack and tap the brush pack once again. Tap Share to export.
Procreate will then make an ABR file out of your brushes.
After hitting Share the export panel shows up. You can save it to your Files on your iPad, or send it elsewhere (through email).

Frequently asked questions about importing brushes to Procreate
It doesn’t matter where your brushes come from, as long as they are saved on your iPad you can easily import them into Procreate by taking the same steps.
Do Photoshop brushes work in Procreate?
Photoshop brushes do not work in Procreate.
How do I download and install Procreate brushes?
To download and install Procreate brushes you simply need to download a (free) brush (pack) from any website that sells brushes like Gumroad or Etsy. Then you save the brush to your iPad, unzip it if necessary and open it in Procreate.
